SANDALWOOD RESILIENCE

This Western Australian sandalwood tree was thought to have been killed by a wildfire.


Twelve months after the fire the tree has produced a mass of regrowth from its base and roots. The upper section of the tree is dead but the base is very much alive.


This is an important aspect to be recognised by plantation growers.
